Astrolabe Pinot Gris Marlborough 2022 - New Zealand

Pinot gris is one of the world’s more popular wine varieties, is very food friendly and is particularly well suited to growing in Marlborough.  I aim for an aromatic, crisp and precise pinot gris, and stylistically it is dryer than most.  The attention to detail around fruit handling allows a wine composition that can age gracefully over many years.  Simon Waghorn — Winemaker

William Chris Roussanne Texas High Plains 2022 - TX

77% Roussanne, 23% Marsanne.  Roussanne, named for its russet-colored skin, is what we at William Chris would call a defining white wine grape for the state of Texas.

The intense aromatics are floral and white peach, with Roussanne’s lemon curd and cream notes behind, and whisps of sunflower seeds and hay. The palate is nicely nutty, with a refreshing through-line, medium body, and age-worthiness in the structure.

Gainey Merlot Santa Ynez Valley Santa Barbara 2019 - California

Produced entirely from grapes cultivated at their Home Ranch in eastern Santa Ynez Valley, the Estate Grown Merlot is a sumptuous red wine boasting fragrant black cherry and dark plum aromas mingled with appealing vanilla, milk chocolate and light herbal scents. Juicy and succulent on the palate, the wine’s concentrated dark cherry, plum and cassis flavors gain a zesty tea-leaf spice tone in the long, savory finish. Beautifully balanced, with supple tannins, the Merlot is delicious on release with poultry, duck, game, and beef dishes, but it handsomely rewards an additional 3-4 years of bottle aging.

Historical cuvée (50% grenache, 40% syrah and 10% mourvedre) produced since the 17th century. The Tradition Rouge is a blend of our different terroirs, and the entire vineyard is certified organic.

James Suckling 91 Points. “A seductive nose of dark berries, dark cherries, dried thyme, smoke, and some fresh peppercorns. Medium body with fine tannins. Velvety textured and layered. Vivid with bright dark berries on the palate and a juicy, peppery finish.”
